VA Community Grant 2014 Results

Dear VietAbroader Community,

After nearly 2 months of reviewing more than fifteen applications and interviewing our semi-finalists, VietAbroader is pleased to announce the finalists of our Community Grant this year.

1. Coong Cụ Project

Project Leader: Tran Trong Thao – The University of Texas at Arlington (Texas, USA)

Coong Cụ is a website designed to help you better your life: more effective work, better learning skill, great entertainment and awesome travelling. Using our website, you will know how to use essential tools that are widely applied by professionals and students around the world, such as LinkedIn or Issuu.

Contributed by writers who are working for international companies or studying abroad, all of our articles are less than 400 words, with many illustrations and video tutorials. Just in a few minutes, you will get something helpful to put into practice and improve your life.

So come and learn here (We will be ready in Mid-October)

2. Thắp Sáng Ước Mơ Project

Project Leader: Vu Minh Khang – FPT University (HCMC, Vietnam)

Have you wonder why underprivileged children, like those who sell lottery tickets on the street, do not lead an ordinary life like other children? Why do they have to work and make their own living at a very young age? If you also have such concerns and would love to provide them with your help, “Thap Sang Uoc Mo” could be a wonderful start for you.

The project has three missions:

  1. Approaching underprivileged children, specifically who are making their own living on the street; creating opportunities for them to get schooled and educated.
  2. Being an intermediary between their families and the local government.
  3. Motivate the youth and the community to be more considerate and to take new initiatives to help the underprivileged in the society.

More information about the project can be found at

We are positive that “Thắp Sáng Ước Mơ” and “Coong Cụ” Teams, by their passion, innovation, and excellent skills, will not only create substantial impacts on their specific targets, but also align with VietAbroader to empower Vietnamese youth to lead and take new initiatives for the community and for our country.

Although this is only the second year of VietAbroader Community Grant, we have received a very strong pool of application. We are honored to have opportunities to get to know wonderful and meaningful ideas of talented young adults across our country. We really hope there will be more and more young people who truly care, lead new initiative, and together make differences for our country, and we wish we could provide our support to more projects in the future.
