General Application Tips

What constitutes a good application?

There is no fixed recipe for a successful application, but generally, a good one should be:
Focused. Read the questions carefully and think thoroughly about what they ask. Don’t let unimportant things distract the readers from your main points.
Concise. Take out unnecessary words. Respect the word limits.
Systematic. Clear outline and flow are signs of an organized mind with good analytical thinking.
Specific. Show, don’t tell. Show us how you scrutinize and analyze different facets of the problems with specific knowledge, insights, and experiences that you have gained
Free of mistakes. Proofread, proofread, proofread.

Do we have any specific expectation?

Overall, your application should show us your skills, commitment, and passion for VietAbroader as well as specific projects you are applying to. Experience in the some positions are desired, but not required, since we always believe in those who have potential to grow and are willing to learn. Learn about the position’s qualifications and VietAbroader’s vision and culture and show us if you are a good fit.

What if I did not make it?

Since we are not seeking for the most competent applicants but the best-fit ones, whatever the results are, be proud of yourself for grasping the opportunity and having tried your best.

What we look for?


Priority will be given to those who:

  • Can commit as least the amount of minimum hours required.
  • Put the VietAbroader project they are applying for as top or second priority among other commitments throughout the duration the project runs.
  • Have a clear and accurate understanding of the responsibilities of the position(s) they are applying for.
  • Understand that their commitment influences the final product of the team.


Communication entails three important elements:

  • Speaking and Writing
  • Responsiveness
  • Transparency

The Application Process

Application Round

Step 1: Fill out a Common Application (CA) and then a Supplement Application (SA). You only need to fill out the CA once and may use it for different projects, until it expires on December 31 each year.

Step 2: Write down and save your application ID and secret key assigned to you once you have started a CA. You will need these two important pieces of information during your application process.

Step 3: Fill out the application and submit any required materials given by the CA and/or SA.

For the time being, you will be able to save your responses in the CA, but not those in the SA. We strongly suggest that you prepare your responses in a separate word processor, such as Microsoft Word, then copy and paste them into the online form(s) once you have finished.

Step 4: Submit both the CA and SA (for your particular project) to complete your application. You may not edit your application form for the project once submitted.

If qualified, the applicants will be invited to the Interview Round.

Interview Round

Step 1: Book the interview by following specific instructions sent by VietAbroader Recruiter from [email protected] The instructions will be sent to you within 48 hours after you have accepted the offer to move onto the interview round.

Step 2: Confirm with VietAbroader Recruiter the interview time that you have booked by sending an email to [email protected] Make sure that the time slot that you have chosen matches your local time-zone.

Step 3: Receive Situational Challenge of the project you are accepted to from VietAbroader Recruiter. Situational Challenge is a required part of the interview. Each project that you are accepted to will have its own challenge, thus, the more projects you are accepted to, the more challenges you will have to solve.

Step 4: Attend the interview. The interview will be conducted through Skype, and will be fully in Vietnamese.
